Breaking Devoid Of The Debilitating Results of Stress

Anxiety, concern and stress are some of the most harmful forces we can face. They sap our strength and slowly weaken our faith, keeping us from growing in the Lord (Luke 8:14). If we are to grow in our relationship with Jesus, we need to discover God’s prepare for flexibility from the debilitating cycle of stress.

Tension’ Source of Power

Stress and anxiety, concern and stress take place when we face a scenario and pick to rely upon our own strength rather than upon God and His Word. Possibly we have actually forgotten that God can deal with any problem. Or possibly we let our carnal nature convince us that we can do a better job dealing with the situation ourselves.

By doing this, we are in fact taking part in a subtle kind of idolatry. Consider the first rule God spoke with Moses: “You will have no other gods before Me” (Exodus 20:3, Deut. 5:7). To put it simply, we should rely on God alone.

When we select to lean on our own understanding rather of God’s guarantees, we are placing ourselves or the overwhelming situations we are facing, prior to the Lord. The minute we enter that location of self-reliance, we open our emotions to a flood of stress and anxiety, worry and stress. However there is hope and freedom for anyone caught in this snare.

Breaking Free

God wants us to be devoid of concern. Jesus stated, “Concern Me, all who are weary and heavy loaded, and I will offer you rest” (Matt. 11:28). To get in that rest we have to cut off tension’ source of power: our unbelief (Heb. 3:19).

In one of the greatest passages of Scripture, Jesus faces our useless stress and anxiety (Matt. 6:25 -34). He tells us to look at how God feeds the birds of the air and arrays the lilies of the field. How much more will He take care of his kids?

Jesus says, “Do not be nervous” about the things of this world. Rather, provide God the proper top priority in our lives. “Seek initially the kingdom and His righteousness” and He will look after the rest.

As we grow in our understanding of God’s love for us, we will quickly understand that nothing in this world can separate us from His love (Romans 8:38 -39) … no financial concern, family crisis, job circumstance, sickness … nothing in the past and nothing in the future. Because He cares so deeply for us, we can cast our stress and anxiety upon Him (1 Peter 5:7)

Casting Our Cares On Him

Every day will bring brand-new opportunities to cast our cares upon Him. Among the very best methods we can do this is by changing our concern and tension with prayer and thanksgiving. “Be nervous for absolutely nothing,” the Bible states, “but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your demands be made known to God” (Phil 4:6). This command is followed by a wonderful pledge: “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, shall protect your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Phil 4:7).

It is also important to start integrating God’s pattern for rest into your own life. You ought to reserve one day a week as the Lord’s day taking a break from your work routine so you can enter into His rest.

As we learn to take God at His Word, walk in His favor and trust in His strength, our concerns will dissolve, replaced by a valuable peace that is known just by those who rest in God’s loving arms.

As You Pray

Are you strolling in His peace? Or are you weighed down by anxiety, concern and stress? There’s a basic service: inform God you are sorry for not believing His pledges, start to give Him top place in your life, and after that participate in His rest.

Take a few moments today to enter into the rest God has for you: “Father, forgive me for my unbelief. I no longer wish to rely on my own strength. Thank You for caring so deeply for me. I offer You all my concerns. I know I can trust You with these scenarios. I accept Your rest. Please teach me how to stroll in Your rest each and every day. In Jesus’ name. Amen”

God’s Word On Stress and anxiety

“Take a look at the birds of the air, that they do not plant, neither do they gain, nor collect into barns, and yet your divine Dad feeds them. Are you not worth a lot more than they? And which of you by being distressed can add a single cubit to his life’s period? And why are you nervous about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; thy do not toil nor do they spin, yet I state to you that even Solomon in all his splendor did not outfit himself like one of these. However if God so arrays the yard of the field, which is thrown into the heater, will He not much more do so for you, O guys of little faith? Do not be nervous then saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we consume?’ or ‘With what shall we dress ourselves?’ For all these things the Gentiles excitedly look for; for your incredible Father understands that you require all these things. Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be included to you. Therefore do not be anxious for tomorrow; for tomorrow will look after itself. Every day has enough problem of its own” (Matthew 6:26 -34).
