BEING pregnant is meant to be among the most special times in a lady’s life.But for Kim Thursfield, 29, from Bromley, Kent, the experience was anything however rosy.
She was nominated for our Fabulous Mum of the Year competitors by her buddy Sally Foster, 29, and is one of our unbelievable runner-ups. Here Kim shares her story …
I met my husband Matt, a sound engineer, in Madeira while working as a singer at a hotel. We had actually been together for 2 years when he proposed, and we got married the year after, which was 5 years ago.When I fell pregnant we were so happy and thrilled. At the time I was working in theatre marketing, but about 4 months into my pregnancy I started suffering with prenatal depression.It had a massive influence on everything I was doing; it was
a truly terrible time. Many people say pregnancy’s fantastic, but it was entirely the opposite for me. I was consumed by concern and anxiety. I was so frightened. Kim experienced prenatal depression throughout her first pregnancy I found it so hard to rise and desired to just sit on the couch all day. It truly ruin my pregnancy
– I had all these ideas of how it must be and it was absolutely nothing like it. I had to be signed off work sick. I seemed like everybody disliked me which I was stopping working at whatever. Matt and I truly struggled during that time.I didn’t understand it was prenatal anxiety, and the doctors said they couldn’t provide me anything for it as I was midway through my pregnancy, so they just left me to it truly. It took a couple of months to feel totally typical once again after providing birth. I went to the physicians and they put me on anti-depressants, and after that I began to feel a lot better and gradually came off them.My little lady Alana(now 3 )was a pleasure.
